Ten Years of Marriage!

Ten years ago today, I married Michael Harrawood.

What an amazing ride it has been, my love. I can't even begin to compose a blog entry about ten years of a marriage like this. How?

I could begin with gratitude, so here goes:

I thank Providence! I thank the waltzing of the spheres and the exactness of the universe. I thank the fickle carousel of time for allowing your existence to twirl alongside mine, in this colorful little blur of life we have been given. In a thousand years, what were the odds of you and me being born in time to love each other?

Because --

What is life but a good fight. "Live all you can," says Strether in The Ambassadors. No offense to Henry James, but my love, you say it best, Live hard.

And I guess that's what we've been doing, you and me, for the past ten years. We've been living hard. And I guess I thank time for everything that has ever happened to us. The good, the shitty! Although I must say that I am glad you survived that motorcycle accident, and I am glad that you beat cancer, and thank you for loving me so selflessly through all my surgeries in the early years of our marriage, and for being a gentleman -- a man who has truly adored me, played with me, cooked for me, danced with me, gotten drunk with me, been sick with me, comforted me, traveled with me, listened to me, sang to me, laughed with me, read to me, taught to me, written with me, moved iron with me, fought for me, fuck-this-shit-ed with me.

For this, and for more, much more than I can even begin to write about -- for your time, and for all your lovely attentions, mi vida: thank you.

I love with wild iridescence. Beyond light, beyond ultraviolet.

xoxo,

Fleur
